You really don't know it's on you.The down side from my view: The battery box gets in the way if you are reaching into an small box or small area that requires your hand to go into. That action will either knock the battery door off or turn the light off. The brightness isn't strong enough for my needs. I re-applied the gloves but not pulling the finger & thumb completely through hoping I would get a better light but it didn't. For myself I think this would be useful to unlock doors or padlocks at night otherwise I have no use for them.I have purchased gloves like this before. In comparison, these were of cheaper quality. Over all, these work great for doing my job in the conditions that these were designed for. I would still buy them again.Gifted.Everyone loves them.
